Why women should be at the forefront of innovation?
I have always had a strong desire to inspire others, this was recognised and supported by my grandmother. I would spend school holidays with grandmother in the rural villages of South Africa, where I felt free to be myself and enjoyed nature. I would bring all my toys and clothes to my grandmother’s house and would organise events such as modelling contests and price giving ceremonies for the children in the village, using the clothes and toys as prizes. The children in the village always looked forward to my visits. The events I organised gave them a different perspective about life. I am thankful to my grandmother for providing me with the opportunity to inspire others and make a positive impact.
Innovation starts with the customer, it is having a deep understanding of customers pain points and solving them in order to help them achieve their mission.
“Innovation is not about building big platforms or products. It can be about the small things, like identifying problems that hinder productivity and coming up with solutions that provide clear value or benefit.” Yoga Raghavaraju
Including women’s perspectives at the table drastically alters the dynamics of the discussion. Not only do women bring a valuable and unique viewpoint, but the norms and interactions of the entire group also undergo a transformation, resulting in improved debates and, consequently, better decision-making. Diversity injects dimensions and perspectives that stimulate creative thinking. Women have distinctive problem-solving approaches and methods of interaction compared to men; effectively opening channels of thought that might otherwise go overlooked.
Hence, why we have partnered with Innovate UK to sponsor 10 women from the underrepresented community.
To offer you a place on our Beauty Product Development and Manufacturing Course.
