When I started making beauty products in my garage I did not consider making products from scratch, packing and taking them to market as a manufacturing process but when I moved my business to a factory.
I realised that what I was doing was manufacturing. I have had to teach myself how to purchase the best raw materials, production planning, quality control, inspection, design, delivery etc. Now I sell my natural skin and haircare products to a global market and all my products are Made in Britain in my factory.
Manufacturing plays a critical role in shaping our economy and society, so women must have their voices heard and can contribute to this vital sector. With women only account for 26% of all workers in the manufacturing sector. We need to make it easier for women to embrace opportunities in manufacturing, contributing their skills and innovations to further enhance the sector’s growth.
